THE KEY IDEA

Choose the structure before approving the finish. A beautiful presentation image is a starting point; your filled product, component fit and approved sample define the final pack.

Start with a clear product brief

A useful packaging brief begins with what you want the finished product to do. Describe the formula format, intended application, target fill and the experience you want when a customer opens the compact. Add the target market, estimated quantity and launch window so that the conversation covers both design and production.

Reference images help communicate a direction, but they cannot establish capacity, materials or performance. Keep a separate list of technical requirements and ask for each point to be confirmed against the selected model.

  • Formula format and target fill, with units clearly stated.
  • Preferred footprint, opening direction and mirror requirement.
  • Applicator, puff or other accessory requirements.
  • Quantity by design or color, plus the intended launch window.

Review the complete component set

Treat the compact as a set of interacting parts. Ask which components are included in the quoted model and review the cover, base, inner container, hinge, closure and any accessories together. If a replaceable inner unit is part of your concept, ask for that configuration to be confirmed rather than inferring it from the appearance.

Check how the proposed pack will be filled and assembled. Ask your filling partner and packaging supplier to review the same drawings and samples. Resolve fit and assembly questions before the decorated sample becomes your main approval reference.

Turn a mood into an appearance brief

Separate color, surface finish and artwork into distinct decisions. A phrase such as ‘soft green with a premium feel’ is helpful creatively, but a supplier also needs to know which part is green, which areas carry decoration and which details have the highest priority.

Supply editable artwork where possible, along with its dimensions and position. Agree how a physical reference or decorated sample will be reviewed. Product images in the MCPA collection show presentation directions; available processes and specifications still need confirmation for your selected model.

Agree the sample and testing route

Ask what each sample is intended to demonstrate. An undecorated sample can support a structure discussion, while a decorated sample helps review the visual direction. Neither should be assumed to answer every question about a filled product.

Functionality and formula–packaging interaction need their own review. Aptar’s description of beauty laboratory services distinguishes dimensional, functional and compatibility testing; use that distinction when preparing questions for the parties responsible for your project.

  • Identify the exact model, component revision and decoration revision.
  • Agree who provides formula, filling information and test samples.
  • Record the review criteria and the person responsible for approval.
  • Keep the approved sample and written specification together.

Send a brief that can move the project forward

Shortlist a few structures and explain why each one is relevant. Share the preferred model code, quantity, target fill, artwork and the points that still need a decision. Ask for MOQ, sample cost, development steps and lead time to be confirmed for that exact scope.

A clear brief makes the next conversation more useful. The goal is an agreed pack specification and approval route, with the attractive visual direction supported by the details needed to manufacture and fill it.

Product specifications, available configurations and approval steps must be confirmed for your selected MCPA model.
